The Friends of the Ohio County Public Library,  Inc. (FOCPL) is a group of dedicated volunteers who work to support the promotion, growth, development, and successful usage of the Ohio County Public Library's programs, services, and resources to benefit all citizens of Ohio County and surrounding areas.

What Is The Purpose of the FOCPL?

The purpose of the Friends is to:

  • Increase community awareness of and use of the library
  • Encourage gifts, endowments, and memorials for the library
  • Provide direct financial assistance
  • Assist with the sponsorship of programs designed to add to the cultural life of the
    community
  • Assist with volunteer work in the library on specific projects as designated by the
    Library Director

Who May Join the Friends?

All persons or organizations interested in the mission and purpose of the Friends are eligible for membership. Click here for membership form. Membership forms are also available at the Circulation Desk in the Ohio County Public Library.

Who Are The Friends Officers?

The FOCPL leadership team is composed of four officers and 3 directors (the Executive Committee) who are elected to serve a 3-year term. Current members include:

President: Charles A. Julian
Vice-President: Julie Coraccio
Secretary: David Javersak
Treasurer: Jeanne Finstein
Directors: Michael P. Hires, Brigitte A. Mazure, and Christine Villamagna

Is the FOCPL a Division of the Library?

The Friends of the Ohio County Public Library, Inc. is a legally distinct 501(c)(3) corporate entity [Public Charity] and is not an organizational component of the Ohio County Public Library. However, the FOCPL works closely with the OCPL Leadership Team and Board of Trustees to effectively serve the citizens of our community.

How Often Do the Friends Meet?

A formal Membership meeting will be held every April. Executive Committee meetings (open to all members) are held at least quarterly. Most members gather when working on FOCPL projects and events scheduled throughout the year.

Are My Contributions to the Friends tax-deductible?

 Yes. Friends of the Ohio County Public Library, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
