The trade publication "The American City" reported in its 1942 Volume 57 edition, "Wheeling, W. Va., Builds Steel and Concrete Structure Above Floods for Smoother Flow of Traffic... The Chapline Street Bridge The new bridge which will be completed by June, 1942, will carry a 44-foot roadway and have a channel span of 110 feet with balanced spans at either end each 55 feet long."
