James McHenry Jones: Good-bye from the City of Wheeling, September 24, 1898

-From the Wheeling Daily Intelligencer, Saturday, September 24, 1898.

The many friends of Prof. J. McHenry Jones will be pleased to hear of his promotion to the presidency of the Colored Institute at Farm, West Virginia. The regents of the school are to be congratulated on securing the services of such an able man to fill the important position. The school under his management cannot fail to be a success. Prof. Jones is a cultured gentleman and a scholar in the truest sense. Under his management, Lincoln school has become better and better until it is second to none of its kind in the entire country. To say that it compares favorably with the other ward schools in the city in not detracting one lota from them, but is merely complimenting the great work accomplished by Prof. Jones. We wish him great success in his new field of labor. While all join in congratulations, at the same time all are sorry to have the professor leave our city. He bears with him the well wishes of all who know him, and everybody in Wheeling knows him.
