The Ohio County Public Library is joining with the West Virginia Library Commission in celebrating West Virginia Family Reads Week. The week, which encourages reading and activities between children, families, caregivers, and role models, is being celebrated November 13th-20th.
Reading with role models allows children to see reading as a pleasurable activity and not a chore. Additionally, children who read develop better language skills, perform well academically, and cultivate a love for reading. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends daily reading aloud from birth to grow vocabulary and promote healthy brain development.
The Ohio County Public Library has a display of appropriate books available for WV Family Reads Week that are available now for checkout. Additionally, books are always available at your local library, Libby, and Hoopla to be enjoyed with others.
