The Ohio County Public Library successfully kicked off the Read Beyond the Beaten Path Summer Reading Program on Thursday, May 26, 2022 with Wild World of Animals. Registration for children, young adults and adults was held in the library's classroom - with lines stretching down the hallway at times. Patrons were also able to register or reactivate library cards in the library. One parent commented on Facebook following the event, "...my kiddos are very excited to use their shiny new library cards!"
Prior to the Wild World of Animals show, the audience guessed some of the animals that they may get to see. Some of the guesses included an opossom, skunk, snake, raccoon and more. Children of all ages gathered as closely as permitted to see the fascinating animals from Wild World of Animals up close!
Some of the animals featured included a screaming hairy armadillo, barn owl, serval and many more. Children who guessed a skunk were surprised to see another black and white animal - the black and white ruffled lemur. A crowd favorite was a two-toed sloth who enjoyed eating some snacks while slowly looking at the crowd from the stage - upside down.
More exciting events are scheduled throughout June and July in conjunction with the Read Beyond the Beaten Path Summer Reading Program. All ages are encouraged to register and participate in the program.
