LUNCH WITH BOOKS: Driving the Electric Vehicle Future

NOTE: PROGRAM CHANGE: The Civic Empathy Through History program will be rescheduled.

Driving the Electric Vehicle Future: Design, Infrastructure, Sustainability, and Advanced Manufacturing in the Ohio Valley
Abstract- with growing concern within the scientific community towards the effects of climate change from CO2 and the instability of petroleum fuel markets, electric vehicles (EVs) have emerged as a potential solution for ground-based transportation. These concerns have rapidly changed the focus of the automotive industry as we advance towards more sustainable solutions. The development of electric vehicles brings radical changes in advanced training and manufacturing, supporting charging infrastructure, buying options for the consumer, and material resource procurement through mining and recycling for battery development.

During this informative discussion, the audience will have the opportunity to learn about basic EV chassis-drivetrain design and layout, existing and future charging options, sustainable resource use concerning environmental justice, hands-on EVSE (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment) demonstrations with the presenter’s EV, Ohio Valley advanced training and manufacturing for EVs, and federal-state infrastructure criteria.

Cory Campanizzi holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, and an MA in Environmental Studies from the University of Illinois-Springfield. His research and presentation areas include; renewable energy technology, sustainable development and policy, appropriate sustainable energy technology (ASET) device building, psychology of sustainability, and electric vehicle conversions of antique European automobiles.

In addition to being in-person in the Library auditorium, this program will be available to watch live on Facebook Live, on YouTube, and on the OCPL website's LWB Livestream page Log into your Facebook or YouTube account during the program to leave questions for our presenters in the comments box.
