Dysart Woods: A Story of

Ohio University Associate Professor Jacqueline Yahn will transport us to the trails of Dysart Woods, where the boundary between a working landscape and a preserved sanctuary blurs. We'll explore the rich history, science, and personal stories that make this place truly extraordinary. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or simply someone who believes in the power of community, this is a talk you’ll want to engage in. Discover and be inspired by the enduring legacy of Dysart Woods – a story of “leaving it alone” that resonates more powerfully than ever.

Jacqueline Yahn is an Associate Professor of Teacher Education at Ohio University teaching Regional Higher Education students across five campuses. Her research centers on rural school and community vitality, with a strong focus on the unique challenges and opportunities within the Appalachian region, particularly regarding school funding and education policy. She and her husband, Chris, are proud to raise their son, Liam, in the Ohio Valley, surrounded by three generations of their family.
