Orion Koller Collection
About this collection:
➤Engineer and surveyor, Orion S. Koller, was born February 28, 1884 to John and Mollie (Pfeiffer) Koller. Educated in Wheeling public schools and Bethany College, Koller would establish his engineering practice in Wheeling in 1912 with offices in the Wheeling Steel Corporation building. He was elected as Ohio County surveyor in 1912 and would oversee many highway improvements in the county like Chapline Street Boulevard, 10th Street extension, and the boulevard connecting Elm Grove to Bethlehem. His most well-known accomplishment was serving as engineer for the Ohio County Airport project.
This is a small collection that contains some business papers relating to the estate of Orion Koller's father, John Koller; deeds, agreements, and tax bills; one folder about Nettie Grimm, first female court reporter in Wheeling; and photographs believed to be Koller's ancestors but are unlabeled. All photographs are taken by Wheeling photographers. One photograph of Koller with Jennings Randolph and other unidentified men in front of an airplane and one photograph of road construction labeled "Edgwood".
