About this collection:
➤ The collection consists of material relating to Wheeling, West Virginia history collected by Michael Baker. Of particular note is material relating to the National Road Alliance of West Virginia and the restoration of the mile markers along the road in Ohio County, WV. Material includes correspondence, meeting minutes, as well as draft proposals and reports documenting the project. Other noteworthy material consists of tour brochures and programs for Friends of Wheeling and Oglebay Institute events focusing on historical landmarks, buildings, and districts in Wheeling. Additionally, there are several renderings and prints by noted architects Schell Lewis and Frederick Faris (1901-1964 - nephew and namesake of Frederick F. Faris, 1870-1927). The 2021 addition to the collection consists primarily of clippings relating to various subjects in Wheeling history. Also included are Marsh Stogie boxes and a Pollack’s Crown Stogies box.
