➤Henry Miller Hupp was born on September 22, 1920 to Archie Todd Hupp (1889-1977) and Hazel Miller Hupp (1887-1978) of Wheeling, WV. The Hupp family were early settlers in the Ohio Valley; the Hupp family farm was located near present-day West Alexander, PA. Henry Miller Hupp’s great-grandfather was the prominent Wheeling physician, John Cox Hupp. John Cox Hupp, MD was married to Carolene Louise Todd, daughter of another prominent Wheeling physician, Archibald S. Todd. Henry Miller Hupp graduated from Triadelphia High School in 1938, then attended West Liberty University, where he studied accounting. From 1961-1985 Hupp served as the official comptroller for the Wheeling Park Commission. His father, Archibald Todd Hupp, Jr. was a salesman in the electronics industry.
The collection consists of various items relating to the Henry Miller Hupp family. The majority of the collection consists of the records of the Izaak Walton Club, a fishing club founded by Henry Hupp’s father, Archibald Todd Hupp, Jr. The records include correspondence, membership lists, and a minute book detailing the club’s activities from 1904-1921. Other items in the collection include a genealogy of the John Hupp and Anne Rowe Hupp Family, photographs, and other ephemera relating to various members of the Hupp family. The collection also includes a small book, Forget Me Not, a Christmas, New Year’ and Birth-day Present, inscribed by A.S. Todd to his future wife, Mary E. Jarrett, on New Year’s Day, 1831.
