➤ Henry Clyde Bowden was born on July 5, 1907 in Hamilton, Ohio. He married Ruth Buettner in 1928 and they had one child, Clyde N. Bowden, in 1930. In 1936, Bowden was listed in the Wheeling City Directory as the proprietor of the Wheeling Karmelkorn Shoppe located at 1323 ½ Market St. in Wheeling, WV. Bowden died on December 11, 1982 in Hamilton, Ohio and is also buried there. The collection consists of 23 photographs that document the 1936 flood in Wheeling, WV. Several photographs depict Market Street and Wheeling Karmelkorn Shoppe in particular. Other photographs include a view of the Ohio River and what looks like a building floating down the river right underneath the Steel Bridge. Other views document the high water facing west towards the Ohio River on 12th Street and 14th Streets. Many of the photographs depict flood damage in unidentified residential areas. There is one photograph of H. Clyde Bowden with his wife, Virginia, posing together in front of a vehicle.
