Dorothy Crowell's Atkinson Family Letters and Photographs
About this collection:
➤The Atkinson family lived in Elm Grove – one house was “Mt. Leon” and the other labeled “Brookside”. Both homes were torn down – one was located in Elm Grove and taken down when Interstate 70 was constructed and the older home, was located on the hill above Wheeling Park, with an access road at the horseshoe bend. These photographs capture the Atkinson’s family life at these properties – from doing chores like making apple butter, feeding the chickens, or showing off their pumpkins! All photographs are from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
