Vertical Files:

What are vertical files? A vertical file (sometimes referred to as a clippings file or pamphlet file) is a collection of materials such as newspaper clippings, booklets, photographs, pamphlets, and other grey literature,  organized in folders by subject for easy reference. These folders are usually stored upright, thus the term "vertical" file.

Vertical Files maintained in our Wheeling Room are composed primarily of newspaper clippings while our Archives Vertical Files contain photographs, pamphlets, and other materials that are one-of-a-kind or not easily replaced.
