About this collection:

➤ Linna Hennig Sherman (1873-1958) was an actress and drama teacher. She was the daughter of E. I. Hennig, a homeopathic physician in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was active in amateur theater in her youth. In 1905 she organized the Sherman School of Dramatic Art. Later she also taught at Mount de Chantal Academy. Around 1929-30 she moved with her daughter Eleanor to Newport News, Virginia. She died there February 18, 1958.  The collection consists primarily of photographs and print material documenting Sherman's career from the 1880s-1930s. The collection also includes photographs of other members of the Hennig family.
