Through photographs, video, music, art, and readings of primary source material, this multimedia presentation will tell a story of African American life in Wheeling from slavery through Civil War, Emancipation, "Jim Crow," the "Great Migration," desegregation, Civil Rights, urban renewal, and contemporary life. Ron Scott Jr. serves as the Cultural Diversity & Community Outreach director for the YWCA Wheeling. A graduate of Wheeling Park High School, Scott attended Morehouse College and graduated from West Liberty University. Scott's experience in community-based advocacy and the arts have led him to hold several roles including founder of the Ohio Valley African American Students Association; a member of Undependent Films and board member of the Independent Theater Collective. He was also a former president and vice president of the Upper Ohio Valley NAACP and vice chairman of the Wheeling Human Rights Commission.
